It is great to hear from somebody who participated in National History Day and to hear about the impact that it had on their life! Thanks so much for the post! I hope to hear from more individuals about their experiences with National History Day.

It's nice to see this initiative continue to grow. I competed throughout middle and high school from California and then Idaho when my family moved there. The experience was truly remarkable. I performed my monologues everywhere from the National Archives in Washington, DC to local historical societies and soroptimist groups. I placed second and third at the National competition and it was truly a defining period in my life. Now I am a maritime archaeologist and advocate for public archaeology in small communities. National History Days taught me the interdisicplinary, connected nature of history. Good luck and congratulations to all the participants!
