About Us

The University of West Florida 2011 Underwater Archaeology Field School is a ten-week program designed to provide students with profession-ready skills and experience through hands-on data collection from historic shipwrecks.

This summer we will be working at several different types of wet sites, including a 16th century Spanish colonization fleet, an early American lumber mill, and potential Civil War-era targets.

We hope you enjoy this glimpse into the work being done this summer by UWF’s underwater archaeology team!
