Confederate Dead of Battle of Olustee

Oaklawn Cemetery

The large soldiers plot in Lake City's Oaklawn Cemetery is the largest in Florida.  The soldier dead interred here are largely unknown by name, but are casualties of the nearby Battle of Olustee.  Olustee was fought on February 20, 1864 and was a decisive Confederate victory.  The Union dead are still buried in a mass grave, location unknown, on the battlefield.
