Courthouse Grounds

1881

In Memory of the Confederate Soldiers of Jackson County, Florida

The relatively early veterans monument stands in stark contrast to the modern architecture of the Jackson County courthouse.  It is a cast metal monument, probably zinc, and is in relatively good condition in contrast to a monument of similar construction in Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville.

The monument stands to the north of the courthouse, inside a traffic circle at the center of town.  A historical marker to the Battle of Marianna is a short distance away on the courthouse grounds.
