Mount Peace Cemetery, E. 10th St. at Rosedale Ave.
Mount Peace Cemetery is the resting place of hundreds of Union veterans, a few Confederate veterans, and many veterans from the Spanish American War and subsequent conflicts. Within the heart of the cemetery is a handsome masonry monument dedicated "to our UNKNOWN 1861-1865." There are several other later memorial features within this cemetery, including a flag plaza and two memorial trees with granite dedicatory plaques. The flag plaza was constructed by the American Legion in 1960. In 2003 new landscaping was added around the monument as an Eagle Scout project.
