Obscured by Time--Herman Trappman Exhibit

Time: 6:00 pm til 8:00 pm

Location: De Soto National Memorial

Description: Come to De Soto National Memorial on Thursday, May 17th from 6-8pm for the opening of Hermann Trappman’s new show Obscured by Time, which will include the new painting Ponce de Leon: The Discovery of America. The show will reside in De Soto’s museum until September 1st, when parts of it will travel to the State Capital building in Tallahassee.

Trappman recreates a world of Florida’s Native Americans lost to time using a combination of paintings and artifacts. The paintings are digitally rendered to create a realism deeply infused with Trappman’s devotion to history. A single painting can take as much as three hundred hours to complete with the layers of color becoming uncountable. His paintings have traveled to every corner of Florida from his home base in Gulfport and now the very best of them will reside at De Soto until September.

The recently renovated museum at De Soto National Memorial is the ideal place for Trappman to unveil his new painting. He has a long history with the National Park Service and his work is featured in De Soto’s famous Junior Ranger book.
