Clay County was developed in 1858, from Duval County land, and named after Kentucky Senator Henry Clay. President Grover Cleveland is one of many historic figures drawn to area during the 19th century. |

Regional centers around Florida serve as clearinghouses for information, institutions for learning and training, and headquarters for public participation in archaeology.
