Florida Anthropological Society Annual MeetingTime: 8:00 am til 5:00 pm Location: Mission San Luis, 2100 West Tennessee Street Tallahassee, FL 32304 Description: The Panhandle Archaeological Society at Tallahassee will host the 64th Annual Meeting of the Florida Anthropological Society in Tallahassee, May 11-13, 2012. The theme of this year's conference - Forever Changed, La Florida - recognizes the significance of Florida's Spanish colonial heritage beginning with Ponce de Leon's 1513 landing and ending when Florida became a territory of the United States in 1821. The Florida Public Archaeology Network is dedicated to the protection of cultural resources, both on land and underwater, and to involving the public in the study of their past. Regional centers around Florida serve as clearinghouses for information, institutions for learning and training, and headquarters for public participation in archaeology.
