Time: 8:00 pm til 9:30 pm
Location: Miami Science Museum, 3280 South Miami Avenue
Description: This lecture, by Dr. Traci Arden, will explore the role of talud-tablero architecture and polychrome ceramic vases in the creation and maintenance of an imagined community created in the northern Maya lowlands at the end of the Early Classic period. Through the use of stylistic elements found throughout Mesoamerica, but especially in the city of Teotihuacan, people at the site of Chunchucmil and elsewhere in the region created a sense of a shared community identity with other Mesoamericans.
