Bonita Springs Historical Society presents Hank HendryTime: 7:00 pm til 8:00 pm Location: Bonita Springs Lions Club Description: Local Historian and attorney Hank Hendry will join us to commemorate teh American Civil War which began 151 years ago. Although Florida' s population was small, its residents were passionately Confederate; Florida was the third state to secede from teh Union. Hendry's great-great grandfather, Frencis Hendry, a Florioda cattle rancer and officer in the Confederate Army, led the attack against Fort Myers during the southernmost battle of the Civil War. The Florida Public Archaeology Network is dedicated to the protection of cultural resources, both on land and underwater, and to involving the public in the study of their past. Regional centers around Florida serve as clearinghouses for information, institutions for learning and training, and headquarters for public participation in archaeology.
